Badly fitted tack is a common reason for sore horses and can result in poor muscle development and adjusted mobility. This module will explain what to
look for in both the horse musculature and the position of the saddle on the horse to identify if there is a problem. Treatment of muscular abnormalities
resulting from poor tack will be addressed in Focardi Master Therapy and Rehabilitation modules.

This module is taught by veterinary surgeon Dr. Jackie Layng MVB MRCVS and
provides an in-depth look at the horse’s body structure from skeleton to soft
tissues. Emphasis is placed on the musculoskeletal system however students will
also become familiar with the different body systems i.e. respiratory, alimentary,
reproductive etc. Students will become confident identifying palpable surface
anatomy of the horse, which will be required for future therapeutic modules.
