Year 1 to Year 3 examinations involve a combination of;
• Continuous assessment of practical ability and knowledge
• Module assignments
• Case studies
• Final written exam (3 hours)
Year 4 final examination requires
• Casebook involving the work up and management of 10 cases

This module is taught by veterinary surgeon Dr. Jackie Layng MVB MRCVS and
provides an in-depth look at the horse’s body structure from skeleton to soft
tissues. Emphasis is placed on the musculoskeletal system however students will
also become familiar with the different body systems i.e. respiratory, alimentary,
reproductive etc. Students will become confident identifying palpable surface
anatomy of the horse, which will be required for future therapeutic modules.
